How This Program May Affect Your Neighborhood

If a SAFE Program project is planned for your neighborhood, you will receive a letter before work begins and additional notification if the work directly affects your property. While work is in progress, there may be temporary inconveniences to residents, but we strive to minimize impacts in your community during construction.

The process starts with the replacement of the gas main and also may include replacement or transfer of service lines serving individual homes and businesses. If your service line is replaced an authorized contractor or qualified service representative will schedule a time with the property owner to enter the home or business and relight all working appliances that operate on natural gas once the service connection is complete. Property owners should NOT attempt to relight their own pilot lights.

Our authorized pipeline contractors also handle property restoration as the project progresses with final cleanup once it is finished. 

The time it takes to complete each project depends upon a variety of factors, including the amount of pipe being replaced, the weather and the location of existing utilities. Florida City Gas makes every effort to complete each project as quickly and efficiently as possible.
